Bike Share Youngstown is excited to announce our Cycle & Cider, a community fundraiser bringing together great food, biking, live entertainment, and local businesses to promote healthy living, economic development, and transportation equity throughout the Mahoning Valley. This event is more than a fundraiser—it‘s an investment in our community. Proceeds directly support Bike Share Youngstown‘s mission of expanding access to affordable transportation, youth leadership development through YoGo R.Y.D.E.S. (Redefining Youth Development, Elevating Success), YO! Motion community bike rides, bicycle safety education, and initiatives that make biking accessible for everyone. Our goal is to raise at least $7,000 to offset event expenses while ensuring every dollar beyond that directly supports our programs. Ride of 25+ miles at mid moderate pace starts at Roosevelt Park (parking lot near little league fields) at 2:00. We will start the ride by riding by Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church Social Hall (stopping to use restrooms if locked at Roosevelt). We might delay start of ride if still raining at 2:00 but forecast then predicts clearing soon thereafter. Opportunity to drive to Archangel Michael after the ride. Meet at the exterior parking lot to the Air Reserve Station. That is to the right in front of Building 102 before you get to the gate. This is a mid-moderate ride of about 25-30 miles over mostly country roads. No ride in rain or temperatures below 50 degrees.

Ride starting from Wick Park to enjoy cider and donuts! This will be a 25 mile ride coordinated by YSU‘s Community Recreation Graduate Assistant, Ella Gaylord. In her role, Ella brings physical activity directly into local community spaces, organizing things like bike rides, runs, and exercise classes in parks, neighborhoods, and indoor community spaces across the Valley. Her position helps carry out the Mahoning Valley Outside 365 initiative, a collaboration between YSU Campus Recreation and HCP‘s Parks and Green Spaces and Active Transportation teams. The initiative works to build awareness of the region‘s parks and green spaces and encourage residents to get outside and stay active year round. Ella is new to Youngstown, so please come ride and welcome her to the area! Registration required

26 mile ride around the lakes of Mill Creek Park and through the city of Youngstown. Pace will be brisk with an overall average speed of 15-16+ mph and 1,300 ft of climb. Opening of the Niles extension of the Western Reserve Greenway Friday, Oct 9 at 9:00 AM There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Niles trailhead to kick off the opening of the extension of the Western Reserve Greenway Trail. Invited guests will be elected officials like the Mayor, County Commissioners, and State Reps., and the Out-Spokin’ Wheelmen. Please come out and join the festivities, wear your OSW jerseys, and we will have a ride immediately after the ribbon cutting concludes. Meet at the Niles Greenway Trailhead parking lot for a 30+ mile ride on the bike trail. This is a low to mid-moderate pace ride on the trail and some road. Optional lunch at Cadence after the ride.
